Which Berry Bushes Can Be Planted in Early Spring
It should be noted that the timing of spring seedling planting is determined by the weather, and when planning planting work, it is important to consider several key points.
What to pay attention to:
- Soil condition — if the soil has thawed, planting can proceed;
- Weather forecast — if severe cold snaps and frosts are expected, it may be better to postpone planting. Plant fruit trees and shrubs when sub-zero temperatures are no longer expected. The soil should be free of frozen clumps;
- Type of seedlings — seedlings with a closed root system can be planted throughout nearly the entire season, while plants with an open root system should be planted at the first opportunity.
Note that site selection and soil preparation is also an important step. Berry bushes prefer sunny, wind-protected areas. The soil should be fertile and well-drained. If the soil is heavy, it is recommended to add sand and fertilizers.
